How To Prioritize Your Marketing for Your Next Client

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Life happens when you’re busy making plans.” That couldn’t have been truer when I was preparing for maternity leave—my baby girl decided to arrive early.
But despite the unexpected timing, my business didn’t miss a beat. In fact, I continued to receive consistent inquiries from both new and existing clients. Why? Because I had already prioritized the marketing efforts that truly mattered.
By focusing on the right things before life threw me a curveball, I was able to keep my business steady, even in uncertain moments.
Here’s what I’d prioritize to help you do the same:
1. Identify Your Key Marketing Channels: Not every platform is for every business. Instead of spreading yourself thin, identify where your audience spends their time.
If your clients are on Instagram, focus there.
If you thrive in building relationships, email marketing might be your thing. Pick your channel, double down, and ignore the rest.
2. Create a Simple Content Plan: I’m all about simplicity. When life gets busy, you don’t need a complicated content strategy.
Plan just a few strong, consistent posts each week.
Focus on content that aligns with your goals. Keeping it simple makes marketing sustainable, even when things are hectic.
3. Engage with Your Audience Consistently: Marketing isn’t just about posting—it’s about building relationships.
Respond to comments and messages.
Ask questions, connect with followers, and show up consistently. The more you engage, the more trust you build, making it easier for clients to take the next step with you.
4. Track What’s Working: You can’t improve what you don’t measure.
Track your efforts to see where your time and energy are best spent.
Focus on what’s bringing in results, whether it’s specific content or strategies. The more you track, the easier it is to optimize and grow.
5. Be Flexible with Your Plan: Life happens. Business happens. Things don’t always go according to plan — and that’s okay.
If a strategy isn’t working, adjust it.
If you need to take a break from posting, do it without guilt. Marketing is a marathon, not a sprint. Go at your own pace, and adapt as needed.
When you focus on the essentials and simplify your approach, your business can keep running smoothly, even during the most unexpected moments.
